CAN DO Initiative Helps Combat Tooth Decay in Chinatown

The San Francisco Examiner recently profiled a project led by CAN DO researcher and UCSF Associate Professor Lisa Chung (DDS, MPH).

As part of a three-year plan to reduce cavity rates citywide by reducing health disparities that have affected certain ethnic groups, the San Francisco Children’s Oral Health Collaborative organized a series of community meetings in Chinatown to raise awareness of children’s oral health.

"Our success depends on many dedicated partners," said Chung. "Some individuals have spent much of their careers combating tooth decay, which is a pervasive health problem that all too often goes unacknolwedged and untreated in children."
